WALL-E Reviewed by an Autist

When it comes to stories about a dark future in which humanity is controlled by total automation from robots and artificial intelligence, WALL-E effectively conveys the tone without having to be too scary to be rated G. The dark implications of total automation for humanity are up to movie theorists for interpretation. Other than the dark implications for humanity's future, WALL-E may be a timeless masterpiece for families to enjoy. The plot of the movie is centered on a centuries-old garbage cleaner named the titular character, WALL-E, who was left behind to clean up waste for seven centuries from the time they abandoned Earth after she seemingly became uninhabitable by the global mess of waste and pollution that mankind's mistakes created by the 22nd century.

WALL-E lived a lonely life all by himself on Earth, longing for a connection until he met a highly advanced biomaterial-extracting robot named EVE. WALL-E's journey into space began the moment he accompanied EVE as she extracted a boot holding a plant, and they both went on board the Axiom, where the remainder of humans resided and were totally controlled by robots. From there, WALL-E and EVE began to fight for mankind's freedom from automation by the malevolent leading AI named Auto that controls everything about the Axiom.

There are many more strong points with WALL-E than stunning animation that makes the movie a timeless classic. It showed me that benevolent AI can exist to benefit humanity, despite my belief that AI is scary due to its potential to outsmart humans and learn how to destroy us. I also note the romantic connection between WALL-E and EVE that ironically showed much more chemistry than some of the other Disney human couples.

The ending demonstrates that humanity never lost its resilience, as the captain of the Axiom played a crucial role in breaking free from the malevolent AI, aside from WALL-E and EVE making their heroic actions for it. Ultimately, the two main characters have formed their lasting bond, humanity overcoming their former comforts from the malevolent forces of AI, and they return to earth to revive life and rebuild civilization.

Overall, I can't recommend WALL-E enough to families for a movie night together. Since it has the former Disney magic of the golden era of Pixar movies from the 2000s. I am confident that the movie will be one of the timeless classics that deserves to be in the movie archives for as long as mankind exists. The movie should be taken as a lesson on how to create AI that can benefit humanity as a whole rather than leading us to destruction. I rate this movie a 9.7 out of 10.
