How to Train Your Dragon Reviewed by an Autist

There has been a plethora of live-action remakes of some of our favorite previous animated movies in over a decade. Some of these remakes have bombed in the box office and ratings. Some changes in the live-action remakes ruin the animated originals, and these changes may not have been requested, which would explain their poor performance at the box office and in ratings. I found out about the live-action remake of the originally animated How to Train Your Dragon, and it seemed promising enough to stand out among other live-action remakes, so I wanted to see for myself how it stands out from other live-action remakes.
The movie itself is live-action for the most part, with the characters and environment being the only real components, while the dragons and special effects, such as the dragons' fire-breathing, are the only CGI components of the movie. The storyline in this remake is identical to that of the animated original, which undermines the purpose of creating a remake, making it more of a copy-and-paste movie but polished. However, I give this movie credit for being one of those live-action remakes that respects the original source material compared to the other remakes that made some changes that ruin them.
Overall, this live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon serves as fan service to people with nostalgic tastes to see their favorite originals but with new palettes. The film won't disappoint you with unnecessary changes, but you may either like this remake or the original more. I rate this movie a 7 out of 10.
